Boko Haram Massacre in Yobe State: Countless Questions

Yesterday started really well, I had no inkling I was going to hear/read one of the saddest news in recent times. Boko Haram's attack in Federal Government College Buni Yadi, Yobe State left me speechless. I've read blogs, seen the different views and opinions of people on the incident, a lot of people blamed the government for the attack, I only have questions and I know there's no one to answer me.
Forget the Goverment for now but, who are these faceless mass murderers? What are they angry about? What has gone wrong with their consciences or lack of it in this case? How do they sleep at night after these heinous crimes? How were they able to plan these things and carry them out without a change of heart at some point? How do they feel now knowing that they've taken lives, broken hearts, shattered homes and ended dreams? How and when did we get to this point where human lives are not valued? Animals are better of (in my honest opinion).Nigeria is not fighting a war, yet people are killed in large numbers.

We are looking for the best ways to combat crime and corruption which have engulfed the Nigerian society, and some people somewhere were busy planning the murder of innocent teens. Teens who are not even familiar with the struggles and problems of their nation, teens who are supposed to be the leaders of tomorrow. What was their crime? How did they contribute to the problems of the nation? What do these killers want and have they achieved them by the killings of these young ones?

I can go on and on but it won't bring back the innocent children, it will not even console their families. My mother once told me that when they were growing up and someone died, everyone knew because the skies would turn grey and the mood of the community will be sombre, but what happens these days? We discuss it, say 'na wa o', mutter 'God forbid' and 'it's not our portion', ask that the departed rest in peace and carry on with our lives the next moment. When will these evil end (na like this we go dey dey)? Are we supposed to get used to it? Oh God! If it hurts me this much, how are their loved ones coping? Let us find a way to stop this because it can only get worse. We need you Lord to direct us, Amen.

May the departed rest in peace and may their loved ones be comforted, Amen.

One Love,
Lae'.

  1. Hmm, so sad and touchy. Just like you said, no one really hv an answer to all these questions all we can say is let God take control and let him turn the heart of stone into heart of flesh. Amen
May the departed souls rest in the bosom of the Lord Amen.
